We read A LOT of books. Besides chasing bunny rabbits outside, reading books might be Paddy's favorite thing in the world. He has a few favorites - The Wheels on the Bus, Trains, Trucks, and series of Elmo books involving a little black puppy (dollar section at Target!!).
He's started repeating things in the books, which is fun. We've also been able to use the books as examples of things.
One of our favorites is trying to explain how to be patient. Cookie Monster helps us out here. We have a book where Cookie has to be patient waiting for cookies to bake. While Declan is eating, I often have to remind Paddy to be patient like Cookie Monster. Today, when Declan was eating, Paddy came up and said "Cookie Monster" walked off and started playing on his own. Yay - he understands.
My favorite book thing Paddy does is new this week. We were out in the car and driving down a hill and Paddy yells "WAHOO!!". At first, I have no idea what he's talking about, and then I remember our book Snowmen at Night (a great book by the way). One of the things the Snowmen do at night is take a wild ride down the hill "WAHOOO the snowmen yell. This is by far their biggest thrill". Now everytime we're on a hill Paddy yells WAHOOO!!
